Atuin v18.24.1
Resume a captured coding-agent conversation on another machine or continue it in another agent.

Before you upgrade to v18.24.1
3 to fixConfig now defaults to `~/.atuin/config.toml` and data to `~/.atuin/data`. Absolute `ATUIN_HOME` selects another root; with it unset, existing legacy locations are still used when the new locations lack the files.

Before moving `config.toml`, review `permissions.ai.toml`, `skills` and `TERMINAL.md`: they become global when `~/.atuin/config.toml` exists. Move home-scoped items into project subdirectories and merge duplicate legacy AI files as needed.

Set an explicit `daemon.socket_path` in each profile to avoid connecting to a different profile's daemon.

Restart the daemon after upgrading so its build matches the client. With autostart enabled, Atuin replaces a daemon from another build automatically.
What changed in v18.24.1
`atuin threads enable` opts into encrypted conversation capture and sync, and `atuin resume` opens a picker with resume, fork and continuation choices. This release also enables workspace filtering by default and introduces `ATUIN_HOME` alongside legacy-location fallback.
Also: Jump to a past command's directory, filter captured output, configure MCP clients, and keep existing installs on legacy paths while new installs use ~/.atuin.
v18.24.1, including v18.24.0; release binaries or source builds with Rust 1.95. Thread capture is opt-in and requires the daemon; resuming requires an installed compatible agent.
New things you can do
`atuin threads` lists, reads, searches and imports threads; `atuin resume` resumes or forks them, including synced threads. v18.24.1 adds oh-my-pi (`omp`) support.
`accept-cd` and `return-cd` are bound to `ctrl-a g` and `ctrl-a G` in prefix mode.
Fixed and improved
`atuin mcp install <agent>` configures Claude Code, Codex, opencode or Pi. New `atuin_threads_search`, `atuin_threads_list` and `atuin_threads_read` tools expose captured threads; history search ranks matches containing every term first.

Date filters without an explicit offset use the configured timezone or `--timezone`; `--before` and `--after` no longer disregard that timezone.
`[output].command_filter` excludes output while keeping history. `[security].redact_patterns` and `sensitive_files` add custom redaction and file exclusions; built-in credential rules also apply to threads.
The PTY proxy initializes in fish, preserves login-shell status, and forwards terminal output under load.

`atuin config enable` and `disable` manage the daemon and output capture with their dependencies. New keys are inserted near their documented examples, preserving existing formatting and comments.

History is saved locally if the daemon cannot start; shell hook calls time out when a daemon is unresponsive.

Unattended login accepts `ATUIN_PASSWORD`, `ATUIN_ENCRYPTION_KEY` or `--password -` for stdin. Self-hosted PostgreSQL/MySQL servers can read a database password from `db_password_file` or `ATUIN_DB_PASSWORD_FILE` instead of the URI.
