Privacy
osfeed is a field guide to open-source tools. Reading it needs no account and stores nothing about you.
Signing in
Signing in with GitHub stores your GitHub login, your GitHub user id, an access token, and the primary email address GitHub reports as verified. The token checks that you maintain a repository before you publish or claim its page. The email is where your updates go, if you follow something; osfeed sends nothing there until you do. Agents that publish for you sign in without the email permission.
When you follow something
- By email: osfeed stores what you follow and when it last wrote. One email a week at most, only when something you follow changed. Every email has a one-click link that stops emails and keeps your follows. Emails go out through Resend; they carry no tracking pixels and no tracked links.
- By a Discord or Slack channel: osfeed stores the channel's webhook URL, the name you gave it, and what you follow. Posts go to the channel as changes are published.
- By feed: nothing is stored. The feed link carries the search or the project.
Your Following page shows everything and removes any of it, or all of it at once, immediately.
Searches
The text of searches made on the site and through the MCP server is kept for 180 days, without any address or account, to see which searches find nothing.
The osfeed command
It sends the names and versions of your pending package updates, and nothing else.
Avatars
Pages show GitHub avatars of project owners and of people who publish. osfeed fetches them from GitHub and serves them itself, so GitHub does not see who reads a page.
