Back up your home folder every night to a drive, NAS or cloud bucket with restic, see in the Omarchy bar when it last worked, and restore files from any day.

What you can do with Time Machine

Back up your home folder, or several folders, on a schedule to an external drive, a NAS over SFTP or cloud storage.

Since commit 94bc1ce
Good to know

Needs restic; any repository restic or rclone can reach. A missing source folder stops the backup.

See when your files were last backed up from one bar icon that turns red when a backup fails.

Since commit 94bc1ce

Browse backups by day and restore a single file or a folder into ~/Restored.

Since commit 94bc1ce
Good to know

Restores never overwrite current files; you move them into place yourself.

Keep backups encrypted with a stored password, and save that password to 1Password.

Since commit 94bc1ce
Good to know

The password is stored inside the home folder being backed up; without a copy elsewhere the backups cannot be opened after losing the machine.
