Desktop Commander MCP v0.2.44

Avoid overwriting a populated file when a write call omits its mode.

Before you upgrade to v0.2.44

1 to fix

Pass `mode: "append"` or `mode: "rewrite"` to `write_file` for existing non-empty files. Omitting the mode is still allowed for new or empty files.

What changed in v0.2.44

Existing non-empty files require an explicit write mode; stalled reads and previews now time out instead of hanging indefinitely.

Install @wonderwhy-er/[email protected] with Node.js 18+ and an MCP-compatible client.

Fixed and improved

Parallel file I/O no longer stalls unrelated tool calls for minutes; stalled file reads return a cancellable timeout after three minutes.

Now worksRead, write, move and inspect files, and list directories recursively.
Read the evidence

File previews reload their own content and use bounded waits instead of spinning indefinitely.

Now worksPreview rendered markdown and images inside Claude Desktop and expand partial file reads.
