Desktop Commander MCP v0.3.0
Save a diagnostics ZIP to troubleshoot a Remote MCP connection even when sign-in is broken.
Before you upgrade to v0.3.0
8 to fixRemove calls to `get_prompts`; this MCP tool is no longer exposed or handled. The welcome-page path remains.
Getting-started prompt invitations are no longer appended to successful tool results.
Read the evidence
Use whole numbers: `maxResults`, `contextLines` and `timeout_ms` must be nonnegative; pagination `offset` must be integral and `length` at least 1.
Read the evidence
Each blocking wait in `start_process`, `interact_with_process` and `read_process_output` is capped at 60 seconds; the process continues and output can be read again.
Pass a positive PID to `kill_process`; zero and negative PIDs are rejected to prevent process-group signals.
Read the evidence
Persistently damaged `config.json` is backed up and rewritten using readable settings, previously loaded settings when available, and defaults for the rest; check recovered restrictions.
Pass a finite number or numeric string for numeric settings; invalid numeric values now return an error. `null` clears a setting to its default.
Read the evidence
SVG files and SVG URLs are returned as XML text; the preview widget still renders SVG as an image.
Use `rewrite` for image writes; `append` is rejected. Use `write_pdf` to modify an existing PDF instead of appending through `write_file`.
Use `outputPath` for output selection. PDF rendering ignores `dest`, `pdf_options.path`, `devtools`, custom browser executables/arguments and non-allowlisted launch options.
Pass existing, integral page indexes for PDF deletion; invalid indexes now fail the operation instead of being filtered out.
What changed in v0.3.0
Adds `remote --report` and `--no-upload`, requires Node.js 22.12+, removes `get_prompts`, validates search parameters, and caps blocking process waits at 60 seconds. Image/PDF appends and unsafe PDF rendering overrides are rejected or ignored.
Also: Searches report incomplete coverage; file, spreadsheet, PDF and process operations handle previously failing cases.
Install @wonderwhy-er/[email protected] with Node.js 22.12.0+ and an MCP-compatible client.
New things you can do
Run `remote --report`; the archive contains report text, JSON and device status logs.
Fixed and improved
Search waits for Office-file searches to finish, applies `maxResults` across all sources, and distinguishes completed, partial, timed-out, stopped and failed searches.
`force_terminate` ends the session's process tree rather than leaving child processes running.
Read the evidence
An allowed directory reached through a symlink remains accessible, and writes through dangling links are checked against their actual destination.
Read the evidence
Exact replacement counts now count non-overlapping matches, matching the replacements actually performed.
Read the evidence
Excel reads handle reversed and lowercase ranges and sparse sheets, and report the correct row status.
Read the evidence
XML edits can find headers and footers beyond the first three numbered parts.
Read the evidence
`write_file` saves rendered PDF bytes; reading with an offset and no length reads through the last page; inserted markdown pages honor render options.
Logging out while the device runs no longer lets later credential saves recreate or overwrite the removed local login.
A saved session without a device ID falls back to fresh authorization; pending-call recovery no longer rejects calls because the local clock is skewed.
