See which apps are open on every Hyprland workspace from the Omarchy bar, hover a workspace to preview it live, and get a badge when a coding agent in a terminal needs you.

What you can do with Spaces

See the icons of the apps open on each workspace in the bar, with the active workspace slid open and the focused window highlighted.

Since v1.0.0
Good to know

Needs Omarchy 4 with the Quickshell bar and Hyprland 0.56 or newer. The README says it works with the bar on any screen edge and is tested on a single monitor. Optionally replaces the built-in omarchy.workspaces widget.

Switch workspaces by clicking a pill or scrolling over the widget, and focus a window by clicking its icon.

Optional settings let a middle-click on an icon close that window and a click on the active workspace return to the previous one; both are off by default. Scroll switching can be turned off.

Hover another workspace to see a live miniature of it with each window where it is on screen, and click a window in the preview to jump to it.

Can be switched off, set to small, medium or large, or set to a still frame instead of live video.

Open a workspace preview from a keybinding or script with the peek command, without hovering the bar.

Since v1.0.0
Good to know

Run `omarchy-shell tornikegomareli.spaces peek <number>`; you add the binding yourself, for example in `~/.config/hypr/bindings.lua`.

See whether a coding agent running in a terminal is working, waiting for your input or done, as a badge on that terminal's icon in the bar.

Since v1.0.0
Good to know

Bundled reporters cover Claude Code (hooks in `~/.claude/settings.json`, needs jq), OpenCode and omp. Other agents report over `omarchy-shell tornikegomareli.spaces agent <session> <state> <pids>`. Can be turned off in settings.

Adjust when icons show, icon style and size, grouping by app, workspace labels, density, animations and more from a settings panel, or set any option from a script.

Since v1.0.0
Good to know

Saved to `~/.config/omarchy/shell.json`. Open the panel by right-click or the gear shown on hover, bind `omarchy-shell tornikegomareli.spaces toggle` to a key, or set options from a script with `omarchy bar set tornikegomareli.spaces <key> <value>`.

Get working, waiting and done badges for terminals running OpenCode by linking the bundled OpenCode plugin.

Since v1.1.0
Good to know

Link `hooks/opencode-plugin.js` to `~/.config/opencode/plugins/spaces.js` and restart OpenCode. Waiting shows only for permission prompts after a 1.5 s delay, so with `--auto` it rarely appears.

Get working, waiting and done badges for terminals running omp (oh-my-pi) by adding the bundled extension to your omp config.

Since v1.2.0
Good to know

Add `hooks/omp-extension.js` under `extensions` in `~/.omp/agent/config.yml` and restart omp. Waiting shows only for tool approvals (non-yolo mode or the `ask` tool) after 1.5 s; dialogs from other extensions are not seen, and only the main session reports, not subagents.

Window titles now render as plain text in the bar and previews (security fix: markup in a title could load remote images). Icons are decoded at a higher resolution, an app without an icon shows the first letter of its own name, and a single-icon workspace no longer highlights that icon as focused.

Behavior changedAffects: Everyone; titles containing markup now display literally, and apps without icons may show a different placeholder letter than before.

v1.1.0

The settings gear is off by default (`settingsButton` default changed from `hover` to `never`): right-click the widget to open settings, or turn the gear on under Appearance. The panel is now six keyboard-navigable pages that fit without scrolling and reset only after confirmation.

Behavior changedAffects: Everyone who opened settings by hovering the gear.

v1.0.0

The plugin ID changed from `insanearts.spaces` to `tornikegomareli.spaces`: run `omarchy plugin remove insanearts.spaces`, add the plugin again with `--enable`, run `omarchy restart shell`, and replace the old ID in the hook paths in `~/.claude/settings.json` and in any settings keybinding.

Action requiredAffects: Anyone who installed 0.1.0, 0.2.0 or 0.3.0 under the ID insanearts.spaces, including their Claude Code hook paths and settings keybinding.

v1.2.0

Get working, waiting and done badges for terminals running omp (oh-my-pi) by adding the bundled extension to your omp config.

Details

`hooks/omp-extension.js` is listed under `extensions` in `~/.omp/agent/config.yml` and reports over `omarchy-shell`. New `pillBackground` boolean setting, default on. The focused-title label and the preview footer set `textFormat: Text.PlainText`, so markup in a window title can no longer load remote images in the shell.

Also: A Pill background setting hides the faint fill behind workspaces; icons render with more detail, and an app without one shows the first letter of its own name; a single-icon workspace no longer highlights it as focused; window titles render as plain text (security fix).

`omarchy plugin update tornikegomareli.spaces` then `omarchy restart shell`. omp badges need oh-my-pi with the extension path added to `~/.omp/agent/config.yml`.

Added: Get working, waiting and done badges for terminals…Improved: See whether a coding agent running in a terminal is…Improved: Adjust when icons show, icon style and size, groupi…Behavior changed: See the icons of the apps open on each workspace in…

v1.1.0

Get the same working, waiting and done badges for terminals running OpenCode by linking the bundled OpenCode plugin once.

Details

`hooks/opencode-plugin.js` is symlinked to `~/.config/opencode/plugins/spaces.js` and reports over `omarchy-shell`. `SpacesSettings.qml` splits settings into App icons, Windows, Appearance, Workspaces, Previews and Behaviour pages; `settingsButton` now defaults to `never`. A one-minute timer checks reporter processes and drops the badges of dead ones.

Also: Settings reorganised into six keyboard-navigable pages with the gear off by default; stale agent badges clear within a minute; previews fit portrait monitors; changing the animation speed no longer hides every pill until the shell restarts.

`omarchy plugin update tornikegomareli.spaces` then `omarchy restart shell`. OpenCode badges need OpenCode and a symlink into `~/.config/opencode/plugins`.

Added: Get working, waiting and done badges for terminals…Improved: See whether a coding agent running in a terminal is…Behavior changed: Adjust when icons show, icon style and size, groupi…Improved: Hover another workspace to see a live miniature of…

See the icons of the apps open on each Hyprland workspace in the Omarchy bar, with the active workspace slid open and the focused window highlighted.

Details

A Quickshell bar widget with a settings panel saved to `~/.config/omarchy/shell.json`. `omarchy-shell tornikegomareli.spaces peek <n>` opens a preview and `toggle` opens settings; `hooks/claude-hook` reports Claude Code state through `omarchy-shell tornikegomareli.spaces agent <session> <state> <pids>`. 1.0.0 renamed the plugin ID from `insanearts.spaces` to `tornikegomareli.spaces`.

Also: Live previews of other workspaces on hover and a peek command for keybindings; working, waiting and done badges on Claude Code terminals; a settings panel for icons, labels, density and animations.

`omarchy plugin add https://github.com/tornikegomareli/omarchy-spaces.git --enable`, optionally `omarchy plugin disable omarchy.workspaces`. Needs Omarchy 4 with the Quickshell bar and Hyprland 0.56 or newer; jq for the Claude Code hook. MIT licence.
